Dr Andrzej Topiński member of the Group of Experts in Banking Issues (GEBI)
The European Commission has appointed dr Andrzej Topiński (Chief Economist of BIK) as a member of GEBI. The Group consists of 40 members – pre-eminent representatives of the financial institutions in Europe. The second person from Poland that has been appointed is Prof. dr Anna-Maria Jurkowska-Zeidler from The Faculty of Law and Administration of the Gdańsk University. The Group will have two major tasks. Firstly it will advise the Commission on policies and possible legislative proposals concerning banking regulation. Secondly it will provide information, forecasts and analysis concerning the possible impact of banking policies and possible legislative proposals on various stakeholders.
Dr Andrzej Topiński – The graduate of Warsaw University. During his scientific and professional career he was, among others, assistant professor in the Institute of Economics of Polish Academy of Sciences, vice-governor of the National Bank of Poland, president of the PKO BP Polish Bank, president of Polish Banks Association and member of Management Board of the National Clearing House.
